YouTube is for videos. That’s great if you have them, but what if you only have photos? With a YouTube video you can embed links and generate traffic to your website. This article will help you use YouTube to turn your photos into videos and then traffic to your website.
YouTube is best known as a site for uploading your videos. But videos are not something we all have. Most video cameras that ordinary people use, are fairly simple “point and click”. The end results are often disappointing as videos will always benefit from being edited and that is where it can get complicated.
The good news is that you can upload a series of photos and YouTube will assemble them as a video presentation. You can control how it does it and for many the end result will be more professional than a video. The best news is that it is free.
Opening your account with YouTube is free. YouTube is owned by Google and most things you can do with google are free, at least at first or unless you want premium features.
There are only two things you need
(a) A camera capable of taking good photos. Today that includes virtually all digital cameras. Not forgetting of course the vast array of Smartphones which can take good digital photos. YouTube will convert what you upload automatically so do not worry about how.
(b) A decent internet connection. Using a Panasonic TZ18 camera a typical photo will be 3-5MB in size. Uploading 45 photos will take 15-30 minutes or more to upload on a basic broadband/DSL connection. Don’t forget “Upload” speed (what you need) is much less than download speed which is the figure usually quoted by most suppliers.
Opening your YouTube account is very simple. If you already have a Google account for example g+ or gmail then it is even easier because you can use the same account credentials and I suggest you do this.
To upload you photos
(a) Login to YouTube
(b) Select Upload
(c) On the right hand side you will find “Photo Slideshow”, select Create
(d) Select Upload photos
(e) Enter a name for the “Album”
(f) Select the photos you want to upload and drag and drop them on the text “Drag Photos Here”
(g) The photos will upload. Once uploaded you can drag them around to change the order or delete the ones you do not want. When finished click Next.
(h) Now you can experiment with how your video will look. The time between each slide, and how they change from one to another.
(i) You can even add an audio track. You may find it easier to select “No audio”. Click Upload
(j) Enter a Title, a good description and apply at least 10 keywords or phrases so that it can be found. YouTube will process everything and a few minutes later your “video” will be in the Video Manager page.
The purpose is not just to show the world your interesting youtube premium freesubject matter but to use it to generate traffic to your website and link to your website. But there are several steps that you must do first.
(a) Confirm your email address. YouTube will send you an email. You should receive this within a few seconds especially if you are using a gmail account. Click the link in the email to confirm. Logout and login to YouTube again.
